Toy Story Land – this year’s (2018) big event at Disney.
Compared to both the Star Wars project and Pandora – World of Avatar (already opened) this new land feels relatively small. But is, at the same time, an essential part of the major change in Hollywood Studios – you can actually talk about a whole new park considering what it looks like today compared to a few years ago.
Disney and Toy Story have a long relationship. In 2008, Disney opened Toy Story Midway Mania! in Hollywood Studios (same concept is also available in California and Japan).
The attraction has been part of Pixar Place and is now part of the entrance to the Toy Story Land.
This attraction is a high-tech interactive adventure with lots of familiar characters that (the young) visitors like.
The grand opening was June 29th and Toy Story opened for the general public on June 30th. Guests have booked rides online with their fast pass the last month and the day before the premiere it seemed hopeless to get near the attractions on the opening day.

Slinky Dog dominates Toy Story Land
You who are familiar with the movies (first one 1995) know that there are lots of characters.
In Toy Story Land, Slinky Dog dominates in form of a roller coaster.
But although that ride, has gotten the most attention by the media, our qualified guess is that above mentioned Toy Story Midway Mania! will play a big part for this new area of the park.

Main attractions in Toy Story Land:
- Slinky Dog Dash – a child and family-friendly roller coaster with the figure Slinky Dog in the center.
- Alien Swirling Saucers – a spinning attraction where you risk being attacked by aliens.
Plus Woody’s Lunch Box, the areas restaurant.
ps. A slightly different version of this land exists in Disneyland Paris, as well as in Hong Kong and Shanghai since 2010.
